INVESTIGATION RESULTS FOR DISTRIBUTION, STUDY ON PROPAGATION AND ESTABLISHING CULTURAL PRACTICES OF YEN TU OCHNAS
Yen Tu ochnas were discovered by scientists from the Fruit and Vegetable Research Institute (FAVRI) in 2005. According to investigating results, these ochnas are mostly distributed at 11 locations that are parts of the Yen Tu mountain range in Uong Bi town, Dong Trieu district, Quang Ninh province. Yen Tu ochnas are being in uncontrolled exploitation and in danger of exhaustion. Under this situation, the FAVRI has conducted a study to conserve and develop Yen Tu ochnas. As a result of the study from 2007 to 2010, there have been establishment of propagation techniques and cultural practices for this ochna. Applying these results, FAVRI has propagated 2000 Yen Tu ochnas and demonstrated a planting area of 3000m2 at Khe Giang village, Thuong Yen Cong commune, Uong Bi town, Quang Ninh province.
